Sixteen hand-dyed colours run from gallery-white and blush to claret, peacock blue and champagne. Seven sizes scale from a compact 60cm (23.6 in) piece for a hallway or side table up to a two-metre (78.7 in) showstopper that owns the corner of a lounge, with feather counts rising from 25 to 50 as the lamp grows fuller.

At 170cm (66.9 in) you can choose how dense you want it: 35, 45 or 50 feathers, so the same height reads as elegantly sparse or properly extravagant depending on which you pick. LED lights nestle among the plumes and throw a warm glow through the feathers rather than past them. Because each feather is dyed by hand, every lamp carries slight, characterful variations, so no two Plumes are quite alike, which is rather the point of owning one.

It plugs straight into a standard socket, so there is no wiring and no electrician needed. Bulbs are included and a simple knob switch handles on and off; there is no dimming function. Assembly is straightforward but easier with two people, and it is worth allowing a few days afterwards for the feathers to relax and drop into their naturally full shape. An occasional gentle shake or a cool blast from a hairdryer keeps the plumage fresh.
