The Studio Pin Light is a compact table lamp built around a coloured shade and a slim stand. It is cordless and rechargeable, so you can set it on a desk, a bedside table or a bookshelf without hunting for a socket, and move it to wherever you are working that evening. A touch switch turns it on and off, and the light dims to suit what you are doing, from focused task light to a low glow in the background.

The shade comes in four colours: white, black, orange and blue. White and black sit quietly in most rooms, while orange and blue add a stronger note of colour to a studio, a home office or a living room shelf. The LED offers three light colours to switch between, so you can change the mood of the room as well as the brightness. At about 15 x 15 x 34.5 cm (5.9 x 5.9 x 13.7 in), it is small enough for a nightstand yet tall enough to throw light across a desk.

The lamp is made from aluminium and ABS and uses a 5W LED. It runs from its rechargeable battery rather than a plug, which keeps trailing cables off the desk and lets you carry it from room to room. Dust it with a dry, soft cloth and keep it away from water.
