Lane is a small round pendant cut from marble alabaster and held in a slim gold or black frame. Alabaster is translucent, so when the LED behind it lights up the stone itself glows, showing its veining like a lantern; unlit, it is a solid little disc of natural stone. It is a jewel of a fitting, meant to be used in pairs or clusters rather than as a single overhead light.
The shade measures 12cm (4.7 in) across and 12cm (4.7 in) tall, and the built-in 9W LED delivers around 720 lumens, enough to light a bedside, a hallway or a corner of a living room of 8 to 12 square metres. A three-colour mode lets you switch between warm, natural and cool white from the wall switch, so the same pendant serves a soft evening and a bright morning.
No assembly is required; the pendant arrives ready to hang. It is hardwired to 110-120V or 220-240V for dry indoor rooms, rated IP20 and CE certified, and should be installed by a qualified electrician. Every piece of alabaster is different, so veining and tone will vary from the photographs. Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep away from moisture. Loom Row suggests hanging a pair either side of a bed at about 60cm (23.6 in) above the bedside table, which frees the surface and keeps the light soft for reading.
