This cordless LED lamp is shaped like a slim figure wearing a wide brimmed hat, a small piece of sculpture that also gives useful light. The hat forms the shade, and a gentle tap on the touch sensor turns it on and adjusts the brightness, from a soft glow for winding down to a brighter setting for reading.

It stands 35 cm tall and just 5 cm wide, so it fits easily on a bedside table, bookshelf or desk corner. There are five colours: deep grey, black, gold, orange green and blue green. Grey and black feel understated, gold adds warmth, and the two tone versions bring a bolder, playful accent to a bedroom, study or living room.

The body is made from plastic, which keeps it light enough to move around the house. An 1800mAh rechargeable lithium battery powers the adjustable LED, so there is no cable to route once it is charged, and it can be moved from the desk to the bedside as the day goes on. Charge it fully before first use and recharge when the light begins to dim. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, keep it away from water, and stand it on a flat surface where it will not be knocked over.
